The fourth competition for grants within "Magnetism for Ukraine" initiative has been successfully completed. Through the "Magnetism for Ukraine" initiative, the IEEE Magnetics Society promotes magnetics research and strengthens the professional magnetics community to support the recovery and advancement of science and technology in Ukraine. To conduct and oversee the implementation of the competition, the IEEE Magnetics Society collaborates with the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU) and the V.G. Baryakhtar Institute of Magnetism of the NAS of Ukraine.
In 2025, the STCU received 37 applications. Following a competitive selection process conducted by recognized international experts, 13 research projects were chosen for funding in 2026. Financial support will be provided to 47 researchers in the field of magnetics, including 10 women, 8 Ph.D. and master's students, and 7 junior researchers. The funded projects will be hosted at research institutions in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Sumy.
Awardees are strongly encouraged to become members of the IEEE Magnetics Society, attend conferences organized by the Society, and submit their research findings to journals published by the IEEE Magnetics Society.
The list of awardees can be found here.
Ukrainian scientists are grateful to IEEE for the support, especially timely in the current circumstances. Particular thanks to Dr. Denys Makarov from Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf for the competition expertise management and to IEEE Magnetics Society President-Elect Prof. Sara Majetich for making this initiative possible.
